Professional journalists today must answer these two questions:
- Should they report both sides of political issues? Or, should they investigate and report only what is true?
The first approach promotes controversy, and therefore can be highly profitable. Often news organizations will give in to strong temptations for profits. Feeding controversy is profitable for news organizations.
Asking both sides for comments is like treating both sides as if they are legitimate political parties.
When our entire way of life is threatened by a would-be autocrat/dictator running for the presidency, I believe that the constitution actually requires professional journalists to step-up and write the truth!
Truth is nothing more than reporting nasty comments made by both sides, and what one presidential candidate has already said what he will do if elected.
